CommonAge – the production and launch of a Commonwealth report with contributions from over 24 authors, 30% representation of commonwealth nations on dementia. This work involved project management, editing and authorship working with an international team who were all new acquaintances at the time https://commonage.net/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/4527_FY25_HC_CommonAge_FullReport_Digital_v11-with-links.pdf

The task Emma took on was by no means straightforward. In just a few months she had to engage with a wide range of stakeholders from across the Commonwealth to invite them to submit articles for the report. She then had to co-ordinate the submissions, liaise closely with the authors, and edit and design the final report. All of this work was conducted to tight timescales to meet production and print deadlines. The Commonwealth has 56 member countries ranged across the world and it was crucial that the project was managed in a way that recognized the national and cultural sensitivities of diverse communities across five continents and many different time zones. Emma was able to adjust to the dynamics of her relationship with CommonAge and our many supporters in a way that inspired trust and confidence.

In managing this project Emma demonstrated outstanding professionalism and skill. Her knowledge of the subject and her excellent interpersonal skills were deployed to very good effect as she engaged with a wide range of stakeholders in senior roles across the Commonwealth. As the project director on behalf of CommonAge I was able to leave Emma in charge of the project for many weeks while she methodically and diligently managed all it’s complex elements. She has now been engaged by CommonAge to travel to present our report at major international conferences in Australia and Malta in September. – Andrew Larpent OBE, Chair (Emeritus) of CommonAge
